November 1st First Fridays Artswalk to Feature a Wide Variety of Artists

The November First Fridays Artswalk will encompass fifteen art shows featuring over two-dozen accomplished regional and student artists in Pittsfield’s bustling Upstreet Cultural District. Venues will reach as far south as the Unitarian Universalist Church, 175 Wendell Avenue, and as far North as Berkshire Medical Center, 725 North Street. The November First Fridays Artswalk will kick –off with opening receptions and artists present throughout the “walk” from 5-8 pm on Friday, November 1. There will be a free guided walking tour beginning at 5 pm on November 1 at the Intermodal Center at BRTA, 1 Columbus Ave.

For the November Artswalk, Hotel on North, 297 North Street, will feature “Trashion – Trés Chic Fashion” by Deborah H. Carter. There will be an opening reception on November 1, 5 to 8 pm, with the artist and DJ by Geoffrey Carter.

Deborah H. Carter is a multi-media artist who lives and works in Lenox, MA. From her home studio, she sews one of a kind creative and unique apparel from recycled plastic, paper, fabric, and other unusual and found objects. 

The Unitarian Universalist Church, 175 Wendell Avenue, will present Questions? by Terry W. Robbins, November 1-29.


Steven Valenti’s Clothing, 157 North Street, will display works by Lee High School students: Patricia Auli, Ezekiel Castine, Em Condron, Colby Curtin, Juliette Gagnon, Olivia Keiderling, Katy Schlaefer, and Ashlee Trumps in a show entitled “Playing Card Self Portraits + Miscellany”.
 
There will be opening receptions for both exhibits on November 1, 5 to 8 pm, during First Fridays Artswalk.


Uncorked Wine & Beer Lounge, 137 North Street, will display “Containment” by Jamie Gray. The “Containment” series is a depiction of earthly elements enclosed, inspired by the fascination and daydreams found by looking into the worlds within small spaces. Handmade watercolors, gauche and inks are used to create a variety of nature contained within its own element. There will be an opening reception from 5 to 8 pm on November 1 during First Fridays Artswalk

NUarts Studios & Gallery, 311 North Street, will host an Open Studios on Friday, November 1, 5 to 8 pm. Resident artists who are opening include: Caroline Kelley, Peggy Morse, Carolina Perrone, Joan Rooks, and Ilene Richard.

During Open Studios, the hallway gallery will continue to exhibit the work of six visiting artists who participated in worldwide #100DayProject for which they created a piece of art every day for 100 days and posted it on Instagram.

New shows from local artists will also be displayed at the following locations as part of First Fridays Artswalk: Berkshire Museum, The Marketplace Café, RJ Stohr Diamonds & Fine Jewelry, TKG Real Estate, The Whitney Center for the Arts, MCLA Pittsfield Branch, Berkshire Paint and Sip, the Brothership Building Window, and Berkshire Medical Center.
