New Memoir Workshop Series Begins September 15
LENOX, MA—Veteran writing teacher Jennifer Browdy, PhD, launches a new series of monthly memoir workshops open to anyone interested in exploring their life stories through writing. The series, entitled “The Alchemy of Purposeful Memoir,” will focus on a different theme each month, beginning with “Seeking Love” on September 15. Each session will take place from 2 – 4 pm at the Church on the Hill Annex, 55 Main Street, Lenox. The cost is $35.
“Whether you are already embarked on a memoir project, or just want to spend some productive time writing about your life in good company, this transformative series of workshops will give you new insights and entry points into your life story,” Dr. Browdy says. “We start from our positive experiences, and also spend some time ‘transmuting’ the challenges we’ve experienced. That’s where the alchemy comes in!”
Dr. Browdy has been teaching writing and literature at the college level for more than 30 years, including 25 years at Bard College/Simon’s Rock in Great Barrington. She is the author of an award-winning guide to writing memoir, The Elemental Journey of Purposeful Memoir, as well as her own memoir, What I Forgot…And Why I Remembered, one of six finalists for the International Book Award.
Her popular memoir workshops offer thought-provoking writing catalysts as well as carefully designed opportunities for optional sharing and peer feedback. The focus is on deep listening to self and others, honoring the commonalities and differences among those in the circle.
Participants are welcome to drop in to a single session or sign up for the whole season. Upcoming sessions include: 9/15, Seeking love; 10/27, Seeking Confidence; 11/17, Seeking Acceptance; and 12/8, Seeking Community. For more information and registration, visit JenniferBrowdy.com.
